About Us
The Housatonic Youth Basketball program is open to boys and girls grades K-2 who would like to learn the game of basketball. The league has two programs: House League and Travel League.
Pee Wees: Grades K-2
Pee Wees meet on Saturday mornings for 10 weeks. Focus is on fundamentals of basketball.
For 2024, Pee Wee sessions will begin on November 30:
9 a.m. - K&1
10 a.m. - 2nd Grade
Bantam: Grades 3-4
The Bantam Division includes our emerging players. This league continues to focus on fundamentals, game play and rules.
Junior House: Grades 5-6
Senior House: Grades 7-8
Junior and Senior House Leagues are more competitive leagues. Teams practice 1-2 times a week, and have games on some weeknights and weekends. The season concludes in February with playoffs and division champions.
Team placements are determined on Assessments Day. All players are evaluated according to skill level and experience and placed on a team accordingly. THERE ARE NO CUTS IN HOUSE LEAGUE: all players will be placed on a team. We cannot take requests for team placements; only siblings in the same division are guaranteed to be on the same team.
Travel Teams
Housatonic Basketball fields travel teams for grades 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 for both girls and boys. Travel Teams practice twice a week and have league games on weeknights and weekends, which require preparation, communication and often, travel to other towns and states. In addition, travel teams participate in several tournaments during the season. Travel players are required to play house league.
The Housy Dome is owned, managed and maintained by the Town of Great Barrington. All inquiries about gym at the Housy Dome must be directed to Great Barrington Parks and Recreation.
